Beer- For More Than Just Getting Drunk

Beer- For More Than Just Getting Drunk... who knew?
Before working at Blanc, I thought that I knew beer.  However, after 3 weeks on the job I have come to find just how feeble my brew knowledge really is.  After seeing this, I decided to take it upon myself (and Ryan) to slowly work my way through the extensive beer list one name-that-I-can't-pronounce at a time.  After a hot tip, I found myself at World Market staring at a 15 foot tall wall of beer desperately hoping for some form of divine intervention to help me choose. Should I get a stout or should I get an IPA? Or maybe I should throw everyone for a loop and get a fruit beer.  Just as I was about to go cross-eyed, my prayers were answered: Build Your Own 6 Pack.  After the Hallelujah chorus subsided I pulled out my beer list and started pulling the following:  Spaten Optimator, Warsteiner Premium Dunkel, Xingu, Left Hand Milk Stout, Guinness.  After gathering the previously mentioned A-Team I also decided on a 4-pack of Boulevard Sixth Glass.  $29 worth of beer later I found myself leaving World Market, entirely too proud of myself.  I'm excited to try these brews, especially since I have never had any to them, and to hopefully become a little more knowledgeable in the process.

Working Girls Lip Smacker

A Working Girls Lip Smacker
Do you remember when you were little and Lip Smacker chap-stick was all the rage? I remember priding myself in owning every flavor in production, I even went as far as to devise a "chap-stick purse" so that I would never be without my beloved tubes of flavored wax.  I would line them up on my desk, all in a row, and put them on EACH flavor at a time. Well, needless to say that 23 is probably a little bit old to be carrying around a "chap-stick purse" and a week's salary worth of chap-stick, but this problem was recently solved for me.  Recently I was in Bath and Body Works on the Plaza and stumbled across a Lip Smacker-esque chap-stick that a working girl (no, not the hookin' kind) can take pride it, its the Pomegranate Lemonade chap-stick made by C.O. Bigelow.  Do not let the $7.50 price tag scare you, its worth every penny. I find myself using this amazing chap-stick non-stop, and even licking my lips afterward (it tastes EXACTLY like lemonade, so yummy!) Needless to say, but I'm hooked and there is no turning back.

... in recent news, I lost my chapstick.
Damn.

AND in more recent news, I found my chapstick. Praise Jesus!

Groupon

Hello, my name is Quinn and I am a Groupon addict
(group) Hi Quinn!

... I admit it, I am in love, infatuated, obsessed, and downright CRAZY for Groupon.  Ever since I discovered it I just cannot help myself from getting roped into their wonderful world of saving! From jewelery to restaurants, I have bought a Groupon for damn near everything.  However excited I find myself when I find a good local deal, I am even more green with envy when cities other than KC have deals that I want.  So, how does a girl get what she wants? She goes after it!  Although there is no way in hellllll I will drive all over the US to use local deals, there is nothing stopping me from buying their ONLINE featured deals and using them however I see fit!  Granted, this is a bit of a pain since I have to sort through various cities looking for good online deals, but my sleuth-like skills have paid off and I now have a lovely necklace to show for my efforts!  I wrote to Groupon the other day suggesting that they make a special section for all of the online deals so working girls like moi don't have to go on a scavenger hunt, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. So, in the meantime I will continue on in my venture to find the best deals out there and fuel my Groupon addiction.

One Year Down, Numerous More to Go.....

I did it! I finished my first year of grad school without a scratch, and a 3.8 to boot! I've decided that I should reward myself for not flunking out by splurging a bit on an item that I've been wanting for a few years now.  I fell in love with this necklace while at Ole Miss, but due to the outlandish prices of damn near everything in Oxford and on The Square, I could not afford it. But now I can, yes, go me!  So, on Tuesday I bought the cutest necklace from Marley Lilly and it should be here by this time next week!
Last week I also got a cute necklace from Dogeared Jewelery because I had a $25 for $50 Groupon to use.  I decided to get this little Fleur di lis necklace but now that they have matching earrings as well!  I'll make sure to upload pictures of the initial necklace as soon as I get it!

Upadate! I got my necklace in the mail last week and it is ADORABLE! I have gotten so many compliments on this little gem, love it!
